What a gem - the best pho I've had in Chicago. The chicken pho comes with beef broth but it's insanely rich and flavorful. It's a massive serving. We also got the Banh Xeo, which was amazing. A Vietnamese pancake with shrimp (we opted for no pork). It's Savory and massive- a nice starter. Shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce were also a nice fresh dish. Service was amazing and the place was PACKED! Will deff be back up this way next time indeed a pho fix.
Got the no 19 banh mi. The meat was so tender and flavorful and veggies all nice and crispy. Spring rolls were huge and had great fresh flavor.
We ordered: Bún bò nướng tôm, chả giò, nem - Steamed rice noodles with grilled beef, shrimp, egg rolls, and grilled pork meat balls Bánh xèo - Vietnamese crispy pancake with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, lettuce, mint leaves & fish sauce Phở Vietnam - Combination of rare steak, well done, brisket, tendon, trip and flank noodle soup My dry Vermicelli were cooked to proper chewiness. Beef and shrimp were overcooked. All the meats had good flavor. Good portion of noodles, meats, and veggies. We shared the banh xeo and the pancake was perfectly crispy and seasoned. They left out the pork though. My friend's review of his pho was mostly positive. Beef were tender but the broth could be stronger. Service was good and there's a good amount of tables for small to big groups.
I did so much research before coming here because I wanted to choose the best pho in the area and I'm happy I came here! My friends and I came around 12pm on a Sunday and it got jam packed soon after. The menu is huge so you have a variety of options to choose from. I got the rare steak pho and the broth was so flavorful and refreshing, I didn't need to add additional sauces. I love mine hot so I added chilli oil as well as lime, mint, and bean sprouts of course! I knocked it down one star because the service was slow and we didn't get checked on but nbd!
Very amazing pho with really good toppings and extras to put into your bowl. I love the flavor of the broth here and greatly wish I was having it at least once a week lol. The spring rolls were very good, and the peanut sauce added a nice touch. I think it would have been much better if I tried it with some spicy sauce as well. Love this place, it's very cozy, feels like someone's house made into a restaurant and you're around people just having a good time enjoying the food. The thing is, you're likely going to wait a while to order unless you're one of the only people in the restaurant. I'd say the quality of the food makes up for that, but maybe have a small snack before you go.
Got the Vietnam special pho & an order of egg rolls! This was the best pho I've had in Chicago so far (getting close to my favorite spots in Houston/LA). I wish they offered a small and large size that way you could portion to how hungry you are, but the size they offer is pretty standard. I do think this was a bit pricey for a smaller storefront at around $17 for the bowl, but the quality of the meat was quite good, almost melt in your mouth so I didn't mind! The broth was very flavorful without feeling too heavy. Great aromatics and was almost buttery?? I would never usually describe pho that way, but something about this broth felt less watery than others I've had without being too much! Very smooth. Egg rolls were very good, not too different from anything else you would get but definitely nice quality and pretty big! The interior is your average cozy pho shop. I'm giving this place 5 stars because on top of it being the best I've had thus far in Chicago, the service was really above and beyond. I never felt rushed, a few different people waited on me and all were so nice. They were willing to talk through recommendations with me, and I saw them do the same really going the extra mile with other customers. At the end, they asked how it was and made sure I was satisfied. Truly a great experience!
Nha Hang Viet Nam in Chicago offers some of the most authentic Vietnamese cuisine I've tasted in the US. The restaurant's unassuming atmosphere belies the culinary treasures within. The bánh xèo was a standout dish, perfectly crispy and golden from the turmeric-infused batter. While on the greasier side, it's exactly how it should be - authentically prepared with a satisfying sizzle. The filling of juicy pork belly, plump shrimp, and crunchy bean sprouts created a harmonious blend of textures. The slightly coconut-y aroma from the batter added a subtle depth that transported me straight to the streets of Saigon lol. Their bún bò huế was equally impressive, with a complex broth that balanced spicy, sour, and umami flavors. The tender beef and pork, along with the chewy rice noodles, made for a hearty and satisfying meal. While the phở is undoubtedly good, I'd encourage diners to explore other menu options. Phở is good everywhere! Nha Hang Viet Nam proves that sometimes the most unassuming places offer the most genuine culinary experiences. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a true taste of Vietnam in Chicago. Service was fantastic. No issues at all. Only downside is the atmosphere. There is no ventilation at all and the air is very thick as soon as you walk in. Our clothes, skin, and hair smells like the food... and its already been two days. A bit hard to breathe.
This was my second visit to the little Vietnam along the Red Line's Argyle station. Last time I had gone to Tank Noodle, but Nha Hang appears to be the stalwart favorite for pho and noodle soups, so it seemed to be the natural fit for a late fall evening. I ended up opting for the vegetarian Mì Xào Rau Cải, which reminded me of Cantonese breakfast noodles. Those are typically served half drowned in corn syrup-based sauce, and half fried, but here you're asked by the server to pick one variety. The fried tofu had good texture and was the best topping:
Food: been here multiple times & I always have no complaints about the food. Everything seems authentic. Flavor of the pho broth alone is rich, no need to add sauce if you don't like to. Service: good, always get seated relatively fast for how busy it always is Ambiance: packed little restaurant, gets pretty loud with conversations
